What to do in Pattaya?




Pattaya is a resort city from where you can travel to any place in Thailand and make your holiday more exciting. However, there are also many things to do in the city.



Beach holiday in Pattaya


Of course, we want to spend our long-awaited holiday at the seaside. There is a big choice of free beaches stretching along the Pattaya coastline - crowded and quiet, clean and not well-maintained, small and wide. Shopping in Pattaya


It often happens that after first two days at the beach, it becomes unbearable to stay under the scorching sun. And you start thinking - what else can I do here? To discover Thai authentic culture go to night markets - there are lots of them in Pattaya. There you will find everything you need for your rest in Thailand:


  • Thai national dishes;
  • clothes and shoes;
  • exotic fruits and insects;
  • souvenirs and cosmetics.

  • At some markets you can come across tents where Thai masters offer manicure, pedicure, Thai massage, tattoo, braiding.


    You can spend some of your free time in the shopping malls where it is cool and comfortable. The most popular shopping and entertaining centers are Harbor, Central Festival, Mimosa. Beside numerous brand stores, beauty salons, mobile service departments, food courts you can find a wide range of varied entertainments.


    If you miss winter while being in the hot Thai summer, you can go to the skating rink in the Harbor shopping center.


    In Central Festival Cinema you can watch films in English. In the Mimosa shopping center you can see a transvestite show of the same name, visit a haunted house and a labyrinth attraction.

    Thai traditional medicine is well-known for its healing power, that is why many tourists frequently visit pharmacies and shops which offer preparations and Thai remedies.

    Thai Massage


    Do not miss a splendid opportunity to try famous Thai massage. There are hundreds of massage salons in Pattaya, however, it is not so easy to find a good massage therapist. When choosing a good massage service, it is better to ask local people as they have surely found some professionals during their live in Thailand. Many tourists like Jomtien Complex by Tanavan, especially the treatment by a middle-aged Thai woman who works there.



     Sanctuary of Truth



    Pattaya Temples


    The statue of Big Buddha is placed in Pratumnak Hill from where opens a magnificent view over the Pattaya seaside. There is a small temple near the Buddha statue. The Sanctuary of Truth is situated in the north of Pattaya. Its construction is not finished yet. The temple is built from wood only.


    Wat Yan Complex is situated to the south of Pattaya. Here you can learn more about buddhism, clean the karma by climbing up 300 steps and just have a rest. In the territory of the complex there are about 40 temples which are all built in different architectural styles.


    Karen Village of long-necked women is now a completely tourist place where you can learn about the culture and way of life of the Karen people.


    The sacral place for Thai people which is also popular among tourists is Khao Chi Chan Mountain (Golden Buddha Mountain). It is situated 15 km away from Pattaya.



    Museums


    If you like art or just want to see some art exhibitions, you can go to 3D Gallery, Van Gogh Gallery or Believe It or Not Museum of wax sculptures.



    Piers


    Bali Hai Pier is situated in the center of the city. From here ferries and speed boats take tourists and locals to the nearest islands for a tour. From Bali Hai you can get to the nearest island - Koh Larn. At the Bali Hai Pier you can take pictures of the famous signature “Pattaya City”.


    Ocean Marina Yacht Club is very beautiful at the dawn or sunset. Nice territory, palms, green flower-beds, snow-white yachts on the smooth mirror-like surface - all this creates an impression of a VIP holiday.



    Gardens and Zoos


    Nong Nooch Tropical Garden is a nice garden with varied landscapes, flowers and plants. You will make very beautiful pictures there. By the way, you can take wonderful photos in a number of hotels - Centara Grand Mirage and Siam Siam which has a swimming-pool on the roof.


    You will have a lovely time with your family in Silver Lake which is situated to the south of Pattaya:


  • clean and beautiful territory designed in Italian style,
  • nice territory with live music,
  • wine shop,
  • lake,
  • up-side house,
  • children’s attractions.


  •  Khao Kheow Zoo



    Animal-lovers will enjoy visiting:


  • elephant village,
  • sheep farm,
  • Pipo Pony Club;
  • underwater world,
  • dolphinarium.

  • In 2017 in Sukhumvit Road was opened a Tiger Park. Here you can pet and take pictures of tigers of any age - from babies to grown-up big animals. The tigers are kept in special cages and are well looked after. Every visitor can go inside a cage for 15 minutes to take photos and videos and play with the tigers under the watchful eye of zookeepers.



    Extreme entertainments


    You have wide choice of the extreme attractions in Pattaya:


  • flyboard: relatively new entertainment, takes place at the fresh lake in Jomtien district,
  • diving: the best diving spots - Koh Rin, Koh Pai, Koh Sak,
  • quad biking: the route goes through the jungles, Wat Yan temple complex and the lake,
  • paragliding: a splendid opportunity to admire a view from high above,
  • bungy jumping: a single or tandem bungy jump. Gunslinger attraction will also excite your nerves,
  • flight of the Gibbon: cable riding above Khao Kheo Zoo,
  • carting: there are two carting circuits in Pattaya - by the Bali Hai Pier and at the Theprasit.

  • To the south of Pattaya function two big water parks - Ramayana and Cartoon Network. Both children and adults will enjoy various water attractions and swimming-pools with artificial waves.





    In the evenings Pattaya changes its looks - the central streets are lit with red light and Thai music can be heard everywhere. All tourists are drawn to Walking Street. You can read more about Pattaya nightlife in the next article.

    Pattaya has a lot of fun. We had a great rest, went on excursions and museums, parks, and in the evening there were discos and bars)
