Where to watch the exciting Muay Thai fight in Pattaya?

Visiting Muay Thai fights is a good opportunity to spend a great evening and get a powerful adrenaline rush. Thai boxing is very popular among locals and tourists. Boxing is an opportunity for the Thai men to improve their social status, and guests of the city, inspired by watching the fight, also want to master this art. For these reasons, there are quite a lot of stadiums and Thai boxing schools in Pattaya, which we will describe in our article.

History of Muay Thai

Muay Thai is a national ancient martial art which appeared many centuries ago. Although the exact date is not found, historians suggest that this martial art was formed during the Siam war with the Burma Kingdom for its independence. When the weapons of battle were running out, the warriors used their fists. Thai boxing became popular all over the world in the twentieth century, when the Thai fighters defeated rivals from different countries.

The main feature of Thai boxing is that boxers during the fight can use all the limbs, including fists, elbows, knees and legs. The boxer tries to strike as many strong blows to the enemy as possible. Previously, Thai boxing fights were pretty brutal and the loser could even pay with his life. Fortunately, in modern boxing the rules are more loyal.

Stadiums and schools

There are several stadiums in Pattaya where Thai boxing matches take place regularly:

  • Pattaya Boxing World is located in Naklua District on Sukhumvit Street. Fights take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, starting at 8 pm.
  • Fairtex Thepprasit Boxing Stadium is located on Tep Prazit Street, competitions are held on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Max Muay Thai Stadium is located on Sukhumvit Road. The schedule of battles can be found at the official website of the stadium.

Last night, Wednesday, I took a motorbike taxi out to Thepprasit Stadium to watch some Mauy Thai boxing like I always used to do in previous years, but when I arrived there at around 7:30 pm, it was all dark. We were told by a local person that they no longer hold fights there. Can somebody confirm?
